Welcome
Welcome to the 'Maria Hogan' Website!
I am a science communicator and educator working in London.
I work 2.5 days a week as a Science Educator/Resource Co-ordinator for Science Learning Centre London based at the Science Museum. My work there involves developing and redeveloping teachers' courses as well as organising and delivering events.
I recently commissioned and helped produce a short film on 'Learning Outside the Classroom'. The film will be used around the country on Teachers' CPD courses and will soon be available on the Science Museum website.
I also work, on a freelance basis, for the British Science Association as a Project Officer for John Lyon’s CREST star project. I am involved with every part of the project from marketing to evaluation and so I recruit, train and equip teachers to set up school science clubs.
Before moving to London, I worked at Newcastle College and was an ambassador for the SETPOINT team in the North East, which won a Business Excellence award for work encouraging the study of Science, Engineering and Technology in schools and colleges.
Apart from education, I have also worked in Science journalism, having regular articles published in Felix and i-Science. I was runner-up in the 2008 Bayer-Telegraph 'Young Science Writer' competition.
I am available for freelance work in all areas of science communication and education. For more information email info@mariahogan.co.uk.
